It was a short hop across the bay to our next anchorage. We attempted to anchor at the location in the RocketGuide but it was quite deep (15 meters versus 6 meters in the guide) and there did not appear to be any sand, just coral. SV Beluga, SV Blue Beryl, and SV Cleo were nearby and we went over to check if they were okay with us anchoring near them. Soon enough the anchor was set.
After saying hello and having lunch we piled into the dinghy and motored over to a spectacular white sand spit. The tide was coming in and it was surprising how quickly the spit grew smaller and smaller. Next on the agenda was snorkeling the reef. We found a good spot to tie the dinghy to a rock and dove in. The coral and fish varied widely but were good enough to make the dive worthwhile. The highlight however was when I stumbled on a sea turtle that was resting. It was nestled in between rock and coral, at first, I thought it was just a shell but then noticed its fins. I watched for a good long time, he either didn’t notice or didn’t care that I was there. I hollered over to Carl and Roxy, which did get him to look at me and just as Carl was approaching, he started to slowly swim away. Unlike the turtles in Mexico, there was no fear. He slowly swam giving us time to watch how smoothly he glided through the water. With that it was time for showers about Sky Pond to warm up.
