Instructions: File:SD20 Seal Replacement Instructions.pdf

SD20 disassembly and reassembly video: External Link
Key Parts:

  1. 1:00 Disassembly of the propeller shaft assembly from the saildrive
  2. 9:00 Removal of the seals
  3. 9:09 Installation of shims and seals
  4. 11:07 Installation of propeller shaft assembly into saildrive

Methods to deal with groves on the propeller shaft

  1. Add/Re-position spacers between the seals
  2. Machine propeller shaft and add a 316SS sleeve to return to original size
  3. Replace propeller shaft

Notes: The 99139 SKF Speedi Sleeve For 35.00mm/1.375" Shaft has been installed over the propeller shaft - this is a bad idea. The Speedi Sleeve is not rated for continuous salt water immersion so it is not 316SS (likely the propeller shaft material).
