The majority of the stanchions are embedded captive nuts and some are through bolts with washers/nuts. Assume embedded captive nuts and attempt to remove the bolt.

Water has been found in both sterns behind the partial bulkhead when there are leaks.

The repair process

  1. Remove all of the stanchions and hand rails (labeling hardware)
  2. Clean surfaces to remove residual adhesive
  3. Polish and clean with the acetone the bottoms of stanchion bases
  4. Clean the gelcoat and inside fiberglass with acetone
  5. Fill mounting holes with 3M 4200UV
  6. Coat the bottom of the stanchion bases with 3M 4200UV
  7. Install hardware and tighten
