The majority of the stanchions are embedded captive nuts and some are through bolts with washers/nuts. Assume embedded captive nuts and attempt to remove the bolt.
Water has been found in both sterns behind the partial bulkhead when there are leaks.
The repair process
- Remove all of the stanchions and hand rails (labeling hardware)
- Clean surfaces to remove residual adhesive
- Polish and clean with the acetone the bottoms of stanchion bases
- Clean the gelcoat and inside fiberglass with acetone
- Fill mounting holes with 3M 4200UV
- Coat the bottom of the stanchion bases with 3M 4200UV
- Install hardware and tighten
