First we had to get to Isla San Francisco from Los Gatos, just a 38 mile run. With the majority of the trip in the channel between Isla San Jose and the Baja, I knew the winds can blow through here and we happily accepted that they did! We saw our fastest speeds of the trip with the GPS recording over 12 knots, briefly. Once we came up on our turn we dropped down to just our jib and continued to move along nicely into the anchorage at Isla San Francisco.
The Sierra de la Giganta mountain range is striking
Crossing the salt flats make the hike to the ridge line much easier
The trail follows the ridge line, at time it is quite sketchy and not for the timid
But the view makes it worth the effort
Not satisfied with one peak I hike back along the ridge line and continued to Lover’s Leap
Looking back at the entire ridge line to the peak on the point of Isla San Francisco
