Hiking with the OTHG group, we carpooled up to the small parking lot before loading up on clothes for the 28 degree start of the hike across the snow covered ground. Near the turn around the sun had done a pretty good job melting the snow and we were treated to very different views in the return hike.
First real snowfall on the ski area
Climbing up Rabbit Ear's pass low clouds blanketed Catamount
The snow made the stream crossing a bit slippery
The valley below lacked snow giving a nice contrast
With the snow gone and the sun out the early fall colors really popped
Jean smiling after warming up once the sun came out
Looking more like a late summer hike on the way back
