**First an important note – There IS bighorn sheep hunting that takes place on the island so consider than before heading off on this hike and if you do proceed wear brightly colored clothes**
Red route is my best guess, based on our hike and looking at satellite imagery. The Blue route spur is where we lost the trail and attempted to cross a peak before it became too dangerous and had to turn around
Looking up the valley towards the riverbed from the low lying Ballandra area
Out of the low lying area of Ballandra and into the riverbed
Two big horn sheep keeping an eye on things
The sun just starting to peek over the mountains
Much of the hike is through this riverbed
Harder to find than you would expect, this arrow points to a short cut off the riverbed
Occasionally we found rock cairns

Looking back down as the riverbed disappears the higher we go
Climbing out of the valley we caught this glimpse of the ocean
This was it, too dangerous to continue we turned around at this point - Photo credit: Julia Ehbets
From the satellite, imagery my estimate is that this hike is approximately 8 miles round trip, there is a lot of loose rock (read slow hiking) and it is easy to lose the trail so prepare to spend 4-5 hours or more.
